Chemotherapy CAUSES Cancer!

Post by sWamp-Ass on Tue Aug 07, 2012 12:05 pm

Long considered the most effective cancer-fighting treatment, chemotherapy may actually make cancer worse, according to a shocking new study.

The extremely aggressive therapy, which kills both cancerous and healthy cells indiscriminately, can cause healthy cells to secrete a protein that sustains tumor growth and resistance to further treatment.

Researchers in the United States made the "completely unexpected" finding while seeking to explain why cancer cells are so resilient inside the human body when they are easy to kill in the lab.

They tested the effects of a type of chemotherapy on tissue collected from men with prostate cancer, and found "evidence of DNA damage" in healthy cells after treatment, the scientists wrote in Nature Medicine.

Chemotherapy works by inhibiting reproduction of fast-dividing cells such as those found in tumors.

The scientists found that healthy cells damaged by chemotherapy secreted more of a protein called WNT16B which boosts cancer cell survival.

"The increase in WNT16B was completely unexpected," study co-author Peter Nelson of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle told AFP.

The protein was taken up by tumor cells neighboring the damaged cells.

"WNT16B, when secreted, would interact with nearby tumor cells and cause them to grow, invade, and importantly, resist subsequent therapy," said Nelson.

In cancer treatment, tumors often respond well initially, followed by rapid re-growth and then resistance to further chemotherapy.

Rates of tumor cell reproduction have been shown to accelerate between treatments.

"Our results indicate that damage responses in benign cells... may directly contribute to enhanced tumor growth kinetics," wrote the team.

The researchers said they confirmed their findings with breast and ovarian cancer tumors.

Susan G. Komen's emphasis on mammograms during breast cancer awareness month called into question

Dr. Lisa M. Schwartz and Dr. Steve Woloshin, both professors of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H., however say that Komen's campaign is best known for promoting mammography screening despite its unclear benefits.

"Unfortunately, there is a big mismatch between the strength of evidence in support of screening and the strength of Komen's advocacy for it," they wrote.

The authors write that the benefits and harms are so evenly balanced that a major USSA network of patient and professional groups, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, says there is insufficient evidence to recommend for or against universal mammography for women of any age group.

Mammography's benefits have been an oft-debated topic since 2009, when the group of medical advisors who recommended government treatment guidelines, the USSA Preventive Services Task Force, advised against the scans for women in their 40s said those in their 50s should only get one every other year. The group said the benefits of screening women in their 40s did not outweigh the risks from unnecessary treatments.

While controversial at the time, some research since has supported the task force's findings.

An April study found mammograms may lead to breast cancer overdiagnosis, and estimated 15 to 25 percent of cancers found by mammograms would not have caused a problem during a woman's lifetime. However those women were often treated with surgical procedures, radiation or chemotherapy, the researchers said.

A study last October found more than half of women who start getting annual mammograms in their 40s can expect to have a false positive test, 7 percent of whom will be advised to undergo a biopsy that will turn out to be negative.

Mammograms Have 'Limited or No Effect' on Breast Cancer Deaths: Study

Foodconsumer's comment: Summary: 1) Breast cancer screening cannot detect aggressive breast cancer early enough to prevent it from becoming an advanced tumor, which is the real killer for breast cancer patients. In other words, the screening does not really cut risk of death from breast cancer. 2) Breast cancer screening overdiagnoses breast cancer and leads to treatment of many tumors that would not need to be treated otherwise. 3) Increased survival rate may be due simply to the early diagnosis alone and may not have anything to do with treatment, and may not actually extend the survival by one day. The seemingly increased rate of survival can be misleading.

Mammograms May Cause More Harm Than Good

Many women are under the impression that a mammogram is simply an innocuous test that might or might not help you detect breast cancer sooner. But research shows this screening may end up harming more women than it helps.

Earlier this year, the Nordic Cochrane Center issued a leaflet explaining the potential benefits and potential harms of mammography, stating that, based on the available research, it no longer seems reasonable for women to attend breast cancer screening. After systematically reviewing the randomized trials of mammography, they concluded that:4

"If 2,000 women are screened regularly for 10 years, one will benefit from screening, as she will avoid dying from breast cancer because the screening detected the cancer earlier.

Since these trials were undertaken, treatment of breast cancer has improved considerably. Women today also seek medical advice much earlier than previously, if they have noted anything unusual in their breasts...

Because of these improvements, screening is less effective today and newer studies suggest that mammography screening is no longer effective in reducing the risk of dying from breast cancer.

... Since it is not possible to tell the difference between the dangerous and the harmless cell changes and cancers, all of them are treated.

Therefore, screening results in treatment of many women for a cancer disease they do not have, and that they will not get. Based on the randomized trials, it appears that:

If 2,000 women are screened regularly for 10 years, 10 healthy women will be turned into cancer patients and will be treated unnecessarily. These women will have either a part of their breast or the whole breast removed, and they will often receive radiotherapy, and sometimes chemotherapy.

Treatment of these healthy women increases their risk of dying, e.g. from heart disease and cancer."

So, to recap, in order for mammographic breast screening to save ONE woman's life:
2,000 women must be screened for 10 years
200 women will get false positives
10 will receive surgery and/or chemotherapy even though they do not actually have cancer

Yet another study, this one published in The Lancet Oncology late last year,5 described the natural history of breast cancers detected in the Swedish mammography screening program between 1986 to 1990, involving 650,000 women. Since breast lesions and tumors are typically aggressively treated and/or removed before they can be determined with any certainty to be a clear and present threat to health, there has been little to no research on what happens when they are left alone.

This study however, demonstrated for the first time that women who received the most breast screenings had a higher cumulative incidence of invasive breast cancer over the following six years than the control group who received far less screenings! The study concluded that:

"Because the cumulative incidence among controls did not reach that of the screened group, we believe that many invasive breast cancers detected by repeated mammography screening do not persist to be detected by screening at the end of 6 years, suggesting that the natural course of many of the screen-detected invasive breast cancers is to spontaneously regress."

Vitamin D and Cancer
Angus Dalgleish, a consultant medical oncologist residing in a city known as Tooting in south-west London, tests all of his patients for vitamin D levels and prescribes supplements for when the levels are low. Dalgleish noticed that patients at his clinic at St Georges suffering from melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, almost all were vitamin D deficient. Not only does the medical oncologist prescribe vitamin D for his melanoma patients, but he also prescribes the vitamin for other patients who are stricken with other types of cancer.

“If we supplement people who are low they may do better than expected. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if vitamin D turns out to be more useful in improving outcomes in cases of early relapse than drugs costing £10,000 a year,” said Professor Dalgleish. “I spent a decade studying interferon for which the NHS paid £10,000 annually per patient for years for very little benefit. Vitamin D is much more likely to give a benefit in my view.”

Other research from the University of Leeds showed similar connections between vitamin D and cancer, specifically melanoma. Patients with the lowest vitamin D levels had the gloomiest outlook and were also 30 percent more likely to suffer from the disease in the future than those with higher vitamin D levels.

At Creighton University in Nebraska, Joan Lappe, a professor of medicine, also noticed a strong link between vitamin D and cancer. He took note of the vitamin d and cancer relationship when cancer patients who received vitamin d and calcium supplementation increased their survival rates significantly. Although the trial was originally meant to evaluate the effects of supplements on osteoporosis, this accidental finding led Lappe to examine the effects of supplements on cancer.

Doctors are more dangerous than guns!

According to USSA government statistics, you are 6200% more likely to be killed by your doctor than by a homicidal shooter. This is the topic of our new video that’s just been released on YouTube and TV.NaturalNews.com.

These data show that FDA-approved prescription drugs kill 290 Americans every single day, meaning that for mass shootings to approach that number, you’d have to see a Colorado Batman movie massacre take place EVERY HOUR of every day, 365 days a year.

Or, you’d have to see a jumbo jet airliner with hundreds of passengers crash into the ground every single day in America. That’s how dangerous doctors and FDA-approved prescription medications really are.
